Being on the same page with your partner is critical for a successful marriage. Problems can avalanche when not addressed properly and eat away at the foundation of a partnership. It is important to identify and eradicate issues before they can take a toll on the relationship. This looks different for everyone and while some couples can manage on their own, others need the voice of an outside perspective to initiate the process. This is where I come in.

I am Jill White-Huffman: Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Marriage Family Therapist. I offer coaching services to individuals and couples looking for support. In order to create a safe sharing space; collaboration, consent, and communication are essential in our time together.
When working with couples, I help them to understand themselves as individuals in addition to their connection as partners. Differences don’t have to mean disagreements. Couples will receive tools for enhancing their connection and maneuvering disagreements without conflict.
Since no two people are exactly alike, I tailor my approach based on the needs of both partners. When people feel overwhelmed and unprepared for challenges, it can significantly impact their energy levels. This mindset can hinder clear thinking and compromise decision-making.
Furthermore, if these individuals are in a committed relationship, their internal struggles may extend into that relationship, making it difficult for their partner to understand the underlying issues.
I use a variety of therapy models to help individuals achieve their goals including but not limited to:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- a type of psychotherapy that challenges negative thought patterns related to self in order to treat self-sabotaging behaviors or mood disorders.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy- a type of evidence-based, cognitive behavioral therapy that uses four modules to teach clients positive behavioral skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy- a humanistic approach to therapy that uses the science of adult attachment to assess individual or relational dysfunction.
- Existential Therapy- a type of therapy that focuses on enhancing the human experience by helping clients find and give meaning to their lives.
- Gottman Method for Healthy Relationships- a unique approach to couples’ therapy that emphasizes a positive reservoir of emotions and focuses on resolving perpetual conflicts.
- Narrative Therapy- a form of counseling that empowers clients by creating distance between themselves and their problems, changing the narratives in their mind.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy- short-term, goal-oriented therapy which concentrates on strengths, capabilities, skills, and their application to future achievements and solutions.
- In addition to the aforementioned proficiencies, I am also a Level 2 Gottman Marriage Counselor and Seven Principles of Marriage Educator trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
It is my greatest honor to be a beacon of support to couples during all stages of their journeys.
